MY STORY
Why I became a therapist
In 2009 I developed breast cancer and received some of the treatments I am now trained in from the Breast Cancer Haven in Leeds and found them to be WONDERFUL!!
After recovering from a mastectomy, lymph gland clearance, chemo and radiotherapy I decided to train in the therapies I received and benefitted from and use them to help others.

- Heal Your Life Tutor and Life Coach … using the tools and techniques of Louise Hay
- NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
- I am also in the process of completing IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy)
I am a member of the GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register) and CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council) and hold the Heal Your Life License.
All the above I use on myself daily to keep me in a good place so that my quality of life is great.
I have volunteered at the Robert Ogden Cancer Support Centre at St James’s in Leeds since 2017 and deliver therapy there one day a week, it is important to me to give something back.
My private practice is at the Therapy Room at Chapel Allerton Pilates on Harrogate Road in Leeds.
In my spare time I walk our dog Axel, our 5-year-old Labrador cross German Shepherd who is gorgeous and loves cuddles.
I also volunteer with the Tailwaggers Dog Display team so attend events during the summer with Axel and the other dogs.
I also attend Chapel Allerton Pilates Centre where I do a variety of classes.
I started 9 years ago with Pilates and found it made a huge difference building my core muscles up and redefining my shape after my cancer treatment.
I continue to do as much as I can as it helps my mind and body and is great fun … big thanks to Sarah, Claire and Ria.

Reducing Anxiety & Stress
It’s true in todays modern world we are continually being bombarded with the stresses of modern life. Stress can have a huge impact on your mental and emotional wellbeing. Anxiety too is very common amongst people today and can negatively impact your health. I can provide you with tools to reduce anxiety and stress and move forward.

We can all use a bit of bolstering from time to time and building confidence helps us grow and develop into the best of what we can be. Let me provide you with a toolkit to build your confidence and take on the world.
Releasing old fears and phobias
Do you sometimes feel that something is holding you back from reaching your true potential? It could be that old fears are blocking you from making positive progress. Likewise perhaps you have a phobia which seriously impacts your day to day living? I can help you release old fears and work through your phobias.

Sometimes we feel stuck and can’t move forward and maybe are resistant to change because of fear so what if change was effortless and easy and happened smoothly and was fun … is that more tempting?
Remember fear and excitement have the same physical responses yet we interpret them differently … like one and resist the other so can you see how changing your thinking could create a whole new life experience and a whole new life.
All you have to do is move your feet in a slightly different direction and you’ll end up somewhere totally new.
Dealing with panic attacks
The physical effects of panic attacks can be debilitating and truly frightening to experience. Through the use of EFT and hypnotherapy I can help you to recognise and manage the symptoms of a panic attack and help you to get grounded again.
Coping with pain
Acute and also more long term chronic pain can have a long term effect on your mental health and feelings of being able to cope with your situation. I can teach you methods of managing pain which can help you to cope with the effects of pain.

Clinical Hypnotherapy
Great for:
- Clearing negative thoughts
- Building confidence
- Dealing with fears and phobias
- Helping with relaxation
- Coping with pain, stress and anxiety
- Improving your sporting potential and much more.
How does it work?
Hypnotherapy is a process of working with your mind. 10% of your mind is your conscious decision making and 90% is your subconscious mind where everything you’ve experienced is stored.
Through hypnosis l help you put yourself into trance giving direct access into your subconscious where negative thoughts can be adjusted and adapted so you feel balanced, calmer and happy.
Our brains are better than any computer system but sometimes things get misfiled like they do on the computer. By using a range of hypnotherapy processes those issues can be refiled in the correct place thus reducing the impact.
We naturally go into trance many times a day … maybe when driving, watching tv, working on the computer or reading a book so l talk to you and you go into trance.
It’s very simple and straight forward and you are always in control so can bring yourself round whenever you want.
You are just in a deeper state of relaxation and you feel really good.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Great for:
- Calming you down when stressed and panicked
- Helping you cope when life feels too much
- Helps with sleep
- Helps clear unwanted thoughts
- Helps with trauma
- Brings balance to help you move on.
How does it work?
Similar to acupuncture but without the use of needles, this technique uses the fingertips to stimulate energy points on the body, usually by tapping.

Changing your life
Both NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and the Louise Hay techniques are change work – processes enabling you to release old negative beliefs and take on new ways of being so creating the life that you want.
Louise Hay created techniques to help people implement the full potential of their own powers for personal growth and self-healing.
NLP enables you to understand what makes you tick; how you think, feel and make sense of the world.
My Approach
My approach is very much based on life experience and the skills & therapies which made a difference to me at the most challenging times in my life.
The therapies I have trained in truly helped me in my recovery and I am keen to share that knowledge with others.
I also wanted to share this video with you which was recorded not long after I had the cancer treatment where I underwent a physical transformation with Karen Betts one of the UK’s leading authorities in permanent makeup and medical tattooing who gave me a permanent brow treatment and makeover.
Having survived cancer and the harsh effects of treatment, including losing my hair and eyebrows, I know that transformation is possible both spiritually and physically.
